Great night of fights last night, most definitely Pay Per View quality. Great job by Spike and The UFC for raising awareness for one of the more pressing needs for soldiers coming back from overseas. Now here are the highlights from last night, WARNING, if you are squeamish do not look.
Props to DW for the Gifs, This is your last chance to click away to not see Corey Hill’s leg. You’ve been warned. UFC.com has the full video.

Josh Koscheck and Yoshiyuki Yoshida
Yoshida pulled out a victory in his UFC debut, but Koscheck is one of the best wrestlers in the business, which should make for a extremely boring fight if you aren’t a wrestling fan. Expect this snoozer to go the distance with Koscheck pulling out a win by unanimous decision.
Koscheck by Unanimous Decision
Mike Swick vs. Jonathan Goulet
Swick a veteran of the Octagon and The Ultimate Fighter has taken his last four fights to the limit, and I would expect him to do the same against Goulet, who is a relative newcomer looking to prove himself. Look for this to potentially be fight of the night.
Swick by Split Decision
Razak Al-Hassan vs. Steve Cantwell
Both fighters are making their UFC debuts, however Cantwell who was the last Light Heavyweight Champion for the WEC before they folded that division into the UFC is the more experienced and well rounded fighter. Look for a Knockout early.
Cantwell by TKO Round 1
Matt Wiman vs. Jim Miller
Jiu Jitsu expert Miller who won his UFC debut at UFC 89, and stepped in to replace the injured Frankie Edgar looks sure to pull of a victory here against Wiman. Expect this one to be over fast. Submission of the night possibilities as well.
Miller by Submission Round 1
Nate Loughran vs. Tim Credeur
Former Navy man and The Ultimate Fighter 7 contestant Credeur will have a lot of support in the military crowd, look for him to make quick work of Loughran with a TKO.
Credeur by TKO Round 1

Diego Sanchez, who most recently had to pull out of a fight against Thiago Alves at UFC 90, has stated on his Myspace page, that he is ready to move back to the Lightweight division, which I think is probably the right move for him. Anyone else want to see a Kenny Florian - Sanchez rematch? Here’s the quote,
I’m back. I’m training hard and will be dropping down to
fight at 155. I will keep you all posted on the info of the fight! But
I promise you all that I will do my best to win.
With the semifinals of The Ultimate Fighter taking place last night, the UFC has officially announced the card for The finale of The Ultimate Fighter 8 next Saturday night, December 13th. And the UFC, knowing that it has a ratings goldmine on its hand has scheduled All Around Jerk Junie Browning to be the opening match on the televised card. While I’m excited to see Bader-Magahales, and Nover - Escudero, I think I’m more excited to see what Junie has been up too. Here’s the full card,

*Steps up to Soapbox* While I try to keep it pretty light and fluffy around these parts, I find it simply appaling that Gina Carano is ranked ahead of Michelle Obama and Katie Couric for a list of the most influential women of 2008. While what Carano has accomplished in EliteXC is nothing to snooze at, I do not think she should be considered more influential than the Future First Lady of the United States of America. Snap out of it people. *Steps off Soapbox*
